What can I do before I start drinking?

Good sleep

Sleep well the night before your party. Or sleep a few hours before your party.

Good hydration

Even if you drink alcohol or not, staying hydrated is good (read more). Six to 8 glasses every day is great.

The day before your party, drink lots of water (6 to 8 glasses in a day is enough. More is not good. Too much water can even harm you).

On the day of your party, drink lots of water (6 to 8 glasses in a day is enough. More is not good. Too much water can even harm you).

During your party, after every alcoholic drink, drink one glass of water.

Meals to slow alcohol absorption

Eat a large meal before you start drinking. Food in tummy reduces absorption of alcohol.

Meds to prevent hangover

Some people take a tablet of Advil (ibuprofen) before they go to bed after drinking.
